5 Tasks You Should Totally Make a Habit Of

Writer's picture: StephSteph

If you know me, you know I love sticking to my routines and getting things done...for the most part. When I say "routines", I'm talking about all the daily/weekly tasks I have that I make sure to get done. Some I have added to my routine recently while others I have been doing for a while now. I am always looking for new things to add, whether it’s referred from someone I know or seen on social media. By having these routines set in place and creating a habit of it, I am getting more things done, reducing stress because of it, and overall creating a happier and healthier lifestyle for myself.

Here are 5 tasks that I have added to my routine that have definitely helped me improve my life.

Clean Your Sheets Every Week

When it comes to cleaning your bed sheets, it is very easy to forget about them and leave your sheets un-cleaned for weeks and weeks. Still, it is so important to keep up with washing them, especially your pillowcases, to help with your skin. For me, I was inspired by an Instagram Influencer, @vivianeaudi, who does her sheets every Sunday morning. She always posts the best health & wellness and fashion tips, and I love trying them out.

For most of us, Sundays are our down-days to get chores down and prepare for the work week ahead so I love starting the day early with doing my bed sheets, followed by my laundry. Once I am done with my sheets, I quickly throw in my laundry next since

I'm in the laundry mood by then. Then, I am ready for the

week with my comfy, clean sheets and empty laundry basket.

Have Your Nails Painted

I don't know about you, but I feel SO confident when my nails are painted. If you have read some of my previous blog posts, you would see that I have tried many different kinds of nail polish recently: regular gel, fake nails, dip powder, etc. I am still trying to see which method works best for me, but either way I feel so much better when my nails are painted.

In my last blog post, I talk about a recent nail trend that I am loving, and I am having so much fun playing around with the fun designs and colors. I always live by "look good, feel good" and who doesn't want to feel good? So I try my best to have my nails done all the time (....as I

type this blog post without my nails painted because I am

lazy but desperately need to paint them).

Set Time Aside For Your Work

This is almost a given, but a healthy reminder. If you have a lot of work or other priorities on your plate, think about how you are going to get this stuff done every week. Throughout the pandemic, many of us have spent our time working on new projects, whether it's a blog, like me, a small business, or a YouTube channel, on top of school and/or a job, and now as we get busier, it's harder to juggle everything. Try and treat all your projects and work as if it is your job and it NEEDS to be done on this day or this time that week. Having this mindset will help with the laziness we all feel every day and get you closer and closer to success.

For me, it's really hard to come home from work, get

myself to workout, and then work some more, so having

a schedule of doing certain things on certain days really

helps me to get my work done.

Self-Care

Another obvious, but really important task to include to your routine, is self-care. This could mean going for a walk, doing a face mask, working out, reading a book, or whatever else makes you feel good and let your mind relax for a little while.

Self-care is so important, and everyone needs to make sure to take the time to relax and unwind and di-stress. I personally like to do face masks during the week, workout, and watch a ton of Netflix to unwind.

Recently, I've also been trying to take in moments of peace and relaxation on the weekends before the weekend is gone and it's time for work again. These moments of quiet time are SO important and you need to take it all in when you can before it’s gone.

Drink Water

If you think you are drinking enough water, you are probably not. Health authorities recommend to follow the 8 by 8 rule. This rule says that you should drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. That’s 10-11 cups of water per day. Water helps you fight off illnesses, keep your temperature normal, digest your food, and get rid of waste, so the more you drink, the better.

I try to plan my water drinking throughout the day so that I drink enough. I will usually have two Brita reusable water bottles at work, one when I workout after, one at dinner, and one after dinner (or occasionally green tea). Having this schedule helps me keep track of the water I drink and to make sure I drink it.

Just having these couple tasks in my routine has definitely helped me to have a better mind set and feel good. I am still always looking for new tips to add to my routine so I am open to suggestions. I hope you are able to incorporate some of these tasks into your routine.
