Although we can't celebrate Halloween like we used to, it doesn't mean that we can't still dress up and have some fun....I know I am!
In a Halloween survey, conducted by Lab 42, 45% of respondents indicated that they have a reduced excitement about Halloween this year vs. last year, with Baby Boomers being the least excited and Gen Z being the most excited.
Depending on the state you live in, trick or treating may or may not be cancelled, but either way there are still some easy ways to celebrate the spooky holiday and enjoy it. Whether you're social distancing or alone, there are still some safe Halloween activities that can be done, like having a Halloween movie night or small gathering with your close friends and family, planning your own little trick or treating, decorating your house for the season, and even going apple & pumpkin picking at a local farm. Many bars and restaurants are also still hosting Halloween events, with table reservations and tickets available, to control the crowd and keep things safe.
Similar to what the bars and restaurants are doing, more intimate events can be held but will have many safety precautions, same goes for passing out candy to trick or treaters and even shopping in Halloween stores to buy costumes and other items. Because there aren't as many pop--up costume stores this year, the ones that are open will be more crowded than they already are. You also need to be safe with trick o' treaters. Some people have come up with clever and safe ways to hand out candy to trick o' treaters, like using a PVC pipe to create a "candy chute" or creating a motorized door to pass out candy, like what Reese's, the candy bar company, is doing.
Point is, whatever it is you end up doing, whether you're out and about or at home Halloween weekend, there's no reason why you can't dress up for the occasion and enjoy the holiday. We should not let this pandemic make us miss another fun holiday when there's so much that we can still do. I already have some fun activities planned, costumes ordered....and I decided I would share with you a sneak peek of my costumes for some inspiration and ideas.
Can you guess what I'm going to be this Halloween? (Click on the pictures to see the stores I shopped at for each costume)
1.
Hint: “Whoever said orange is the new pink was seriously disturbed."
2.
Hint: "My theory is that if more plants talked, deforestation would be dramatically reduced. It's worth trying. If it just saves one tree... Hi, I'm _______."
I would love to hear your guesses of who I am dressing up as and your own costume ideas as well so feel free to message me!
Happy Halloween!
Xoxo,
Steph
