I do love a nice, relaxing weekend at home doing absolutely nothing, but I also hate to waste a weekend when there's so much I can do. Especially with everything that is going on, tons of businesses are working to bring their customers new experiences and fun. Because it is hard to know simply everything that is happening around NJ, I am here to help with some food and fun activities that you can do right now in or near the Bergen County area.
1. “Spring in Living Color” Pop-Up at Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, NJ
I can't remember the last time I've been to the mall (because online ordering has taken over my life) but I have been seeing lots of post on social media about this flower installation pop-up in the Garden State Plaza Mall. There are five beautiful flower installations to explore and take pictures with. If interested, you better hurry because the pop-up will only be around through June 6. It is only $10 for kids and $15 for adults. You can make reservations here.
I think installations, and pop-ups like this one, are a great idea for malls and smaller shopping centers to attract customers and get noticed more on social media. While it can be pretty pricey to build, it is a great idea and customers passing by will love it. I've been seeing a lot of "Selfie" museums popping up all around the country as well, with a similar concept. An added benefit is that when customers go to post the pictures they took, they will most likely tag the location in their post, giving the store more exposure and referrals to other potential customers.
2. True Food Kitchen at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, NJ
True Food Kitchen is a somewhat new restaurant I've been meaning to try nearby. They just opened up at The Shops at Riverside not too long ago, and the food looks very good, and healthy. I heard about this restaurant from @bergenmama on Instagram. They are a great account to follow for all things food, fun, and more in the Bergen County area. Right when I saw their post about this restaurant, I was sold.
From their Edamame Dumplings or Guacamole, to their Margarita Pizza, to their Pool Party Craft Cocktail, I was in love. I'm always looking for yummy restaurants to try that are -somewhat- healthy. The restaurant also has outdoor dining for a nice sunny day which I love. You can make reservations here.
3. The Tilt Museum at The American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ
The ”Immersive Art Experience" at Tilt Museum is said to be "snap-worthy" and "mind-blowing." It was designed by a world-renowned urban art master, Tracy Stum. Tickets are $20, and there's discounted prices for Senior Citizens, at $18, and15% off for Military. You can even book a room, or the entire exhibit, for a private party. To purchase tickets, simply click here.
Similar to the flower installation at The Garden State Plaza, this museum is also a great addition to The American Dream Mall. Although the mall has already been very popular and well-known since it' opening in October of 2019, this museum and the shares it will get on social media with its’ photo worthy art will definitely attract even more customers to the mall.
4. Do A Muckbang at Chopt, Cava, and Stickys in The Bergen Town Center in Paramus, NJ
If you want to try new food places, but you're looking for an easy grab-n-go, the Bergen Town Center is the best place to go. Some of their more newer food places include Sticky's Finger Joint, Cava, and Chopt. I've only tried Cava so far, and it is so good. I always describe it as the "Chipotle version of Mediterranean Greek food." I have it almost every week.
The mall also has Chopt, that I've heard a lot about, as well as Sticky's Finger Joint, which are complete opposites. I do love a good bowl of salad with tons of ingredients, but I will also splurge and get wings and fries every now and then. so these two food places are definitely on my list of places to go to soon too.
5. Big Snow at The American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ
At Big Snow, every day is a snow day. It is North America’s first and only indoor, real-snow, year-round ski and snow resort. Although it is the Spring, it would be fun to take a trip there and feel the cold for a change, especially in this overnight heat we’re having. They have a ton of different packages and lesson programs to choose from, as well as gear rentals. Make sure you book your visit prior to going so you secure a spot. You can book that here. Prices do range, whether you are booking for a multiple or single experience or lesson program, ranging from $35 to $150.
Xoxo,
Steph
