One of my favorite outfits to put together is simply just throwing on a long skirt and top. What’s great about a long skirt is that you can wear it all year round, and for the most part, they are very comfortable. There’s so many different styles, patterns, fabrics, and colors to choose from in all different stores and you can create an endless amount of outfit possibilities just with one. Over the summer I somehow ended up buying too many skirts and started to play around with them. There’s so many different ways to style an outfit with a long skirt, and I’m going to show you some.
1. A Cropped Top
I LOVE pairing a long skirt with a crop top, either left loose or tied into a knot, depending on the length. It gives the outfit an extra wow factor!
2. An Oversized Band Tee
If you know me, you know I have a collection of oversized band tees that I wear almost everyday. It’s super cute to pair a skirt with a band tee, either tucked in, cropped, or tied in a knot. You can also add a denim jacket and layered necklaces and rings for an extra look. NEVER forget the accessories!
3. A Long Sweater
Especially for the chillier seasons, wearing a long, fuzzy sweater with a skirt is a great idea. You can tuck it into the skirt or if it’s too bunched, you can also try some other easy tricks that I learned through TikTok, like using a belt or tucking the sweater into your sports bra. Check out this TikTok here.
4. A Matching Set
Back at it with the matching sets...again, and I will never stop. A matching top and long skirt set is a killer look. It gives you an easy outfit already put together, and all you have to do now is pick out your accessories and shoes. Some sets may be on the pricier side, but you do have to keep in mind that you are basically buying a full outfit (if both pieces are included and not separate).
5. A Bodycon Long Sleeve
Although I love wearing my baggy, comfortable clothes all the time, it’s also nice to squeeze into a tight bodycon shirt or dress once in a while. Paired with a long skirt, you will get a nice fitted but flowy outfit to wear out. Also, if the skirt is somewhat lose, you can even wear a tight dress underneath if you really like the design and it matches well to the skirt. I do this all the time with skirts and pants (shhhh)!
Of course, depending on the season, you might opt for a thicker skirt for the winter or one with a slit for the summer or spring for your outfit, but there are very easy ways to style the skirt for the current season. You can also layer with a jacket or sweater. Also remember, anything you don’t see underneath the clothes doesn't matter as long as you’re warm for the chillier seasons. Happy Styling!
