My Best Fall Fashion Tips!

Writer's picture: StephSteph

And just like that, the Summer season is over and the Fall is finally here. Although the Fall happens to be my favorite season, sometimes I feel like it is easier to put together outfits in the warmer weather. Having to worry about dressing nice, while also staying warm, was always a struggle of mine. As I've learned to resolve this issue, I figured I would share some of these helpful tips with you as well.

1. A Big Warm Coat

Having a staple fall coat is a must-have, whether it's a patterned trench coat, faux fur, or the newly-trending "shacket". I, myself, still have to buy a shacket of my own. It is the perfect transition jacket to go from the Summer to the Fall, and it's so cute. Any of these coats will keep you warm and totally contribute to your outfit. What's great is that you can still take off the coat if you're warm and show off your outfit underneath.

I really just suggest finding at least one or two Fall jacket that will be perfect for any event. While jackets can be a little pricey, it is worth it!

2. A Hat

As I've said before, hats can be a major life-saver to an outfit. They are really unique, being that many people still don't try to incorporate them into their wardrobe. They will also keep you warmer in the cooler seasons, and totally complete an outfit. I have been loving wearing my fedora hats for a day at the winery or visiting a pumpkin patch. They can really make any outfit!

3. Cowboy Boots Galore

If you've seen my Instagram lately, you would see that I've started to obsess over cowboy boots. Any time I see a pair I like (at a good price), I can't resist. I've been seeing more and more cowboy boots popping up online, on Instagram, and worn by influencers on TikTok. They are so cute. They are also very comfortable and keep your legs warm if you get long ones. (You just have to remember to break them in first before wearing them for a long amount of time.) Amazon has a ton of cowboy boots dupes if you're not looking to spend too much money.

I just ordered these beautiful boots from Nasty Gal, and I can't wait to wear them!

4. Layering

Layering is always the smart thing to do in the colder seasons. You can make it cute, or you can keep it hidden. Either way, you are going to be wearing a cute outfit and staying warm at the same time. If you choose to show-off the layers, I would stick to neutrals or similar colors for a more put together look. If you're looking to hide the layers, try adding leggings under (non-ripped) jeans or wearing an extra tank top under your shirt.

Don't forget, a jacket, hat, or scarf is also a good idea to add more layers as well. You can never go wrong with adding an oversized, plaid scarf to your Fall outfit.

5. Neutrals and Patterns

Although this may be obvious, I like sticking to the basic Fall colors and patterns: tan shades, oranges, browns, yellows, blues, greens, etc. Also, don't be afraid to add some funky patterns to your Fall wardrobe too, like stripes, dots, plaid (of course), and floral prints. If you're all about the pics like me, dressing in these colors will make your Instagram moments even more perfect when you're drinking at a cidery or picking some apples.
