Less Airline Flights and More Margarita Flights!

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, we are seeing that people are booking less flights than usual. Instead, many people are spending their time trying out new things and places nearby, like yummy margarita flights, which are becoming a new drink trend going into 2021.

This surfacing drink trend has become very popular among foodie consumers, including me.

So what is a margarita flight exactly?

A margarita flight, usually served on a wooden paddle or board of some kind, features an assortment of 3-4 boozy drinks, and in this case, margaritas. If you go to a brewery or cidery, you will probably have the option to order a beer or cider flight as well. Many restaurants offer simple cocktail flights too, where you can choose a variety of different liquor cocktails. The price of these flights usually range between $15 and $25, depending on where and what you get.

What's great about these "flights" is that you get to try different flavors in a fun and exciting way. Especially now, when consumers have been faced with the hardships of COVID-19, everyone is looking past a simple products quality to be content with their purchase. According to Smart Brief, experiences matter and is a top drink trend going into the new year. The experience and extra senses brought by a product or service is highly attractive to consumers, and a flight does exactly that when dining out.

Did I mention I love tequila???

I had my very first flight at Angry Orchards- a cider flight.

I went to Angry Orchard, in Walden, NY, last November, and it was so much fun. Just by going, you get a token for a free cider sample flight of 3 different ciders to try. Afterwards, you can go up to the bar and buy more of the cider you liked best or try another flavor. They also had apple cider donuts (YUM!) and a firepit to keep warm.

I had my first margarita flight at Gringos.

I was very impressed with Gringos in Jersey City, NJ when I went in September. Their service was so quick, and their tacos & drinks were very good! You get to pick which margaritas you want on the flight and whether you want them frozen or not. They also make sure the margaritas look just as good as they taste which I loved. My phone ALWAYS eats first of course.

There's Bahama Breeze's all over, but I went to the one in Woodbridge, NJ in October. They have so many specialty cocktails to choose from and two different kinds of flights- a cocktail one and a margarita one. Attached to the flight board is a paper with a description of the drinks and a little backstory, again bringing you more of an experience than just simply drinking the drink.

A margarita flight that is on my list to try is from Agave Cocina Mexicana.

Although I have not been to Agave Cocina Mexicana yet, in Wallington, NJ, it seems like a very good restaurant based on all the posts I've seen so far. All their flight paddles are so nice, all decorated differently, and I can't wait to order one for myself to try.

If you've had a drink flight elsewhere (margarita, cocktail, cider, etc.), please let me know! I am always down to try new places:)

Enjoy your "flights"!

Xoxo,

Steph
